Animal Group: Our dog was killed, charges are coming

( Lebanon, Ohio ) - "We're all undeniably angered and overwhelmingly upset." That is part of a statement posted on Facebook by a Tri-State animal rescue group that says one of its dogs was found dead in the prison in Warren County.

Read the full statement from Josephs Legacy below:

The group says that Evie, a dog who came to be in their care starting in 2015, was found dead in a cell at the Warren Correcitonal Institution. The post made early Sunday morning says Evie was a part of a program where "trusted inmates" are allowed to train rescue animals. Up until this incident with Evie, there had been no problems.

The post says that a necropsy on Evie showed that the dog died of blunt force trauma to her abdomen.

Josephs Legacy says everyone in the group is "undeniably angered and overwhelmingly upset," and they're promising formal charges will be filed.

No comment has been made by prisons officials or Warren County authorities.
