UPDATE: The Boone County Sheriff has identified the two bodies found shot in Burlington at the Allen Creek Apartments.
A statement Wednesday afternoon says autopsy results are pending for 31-year-old Kelli Kramer and her 9-year-old son, Aiden Kramer. Aiden was a 4th grader at Burlington Elementary, and a statement from Boone County Schools says the district is devastated, and grief counselors will be available on Thursday.
Investigators are treating the case as a double homicide, but there's no word yet on any suspects.

(Burlington, KY) - Boone County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 5900 block of Peoples Lane in Burlington, Kentucky for a report of two deceased people found in an apartment Wednesday at approximately 3:40 a.m.
First responders located a woman and a male in the apartment dead from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Once they determined there was no one else in the apartment they secured the scene for investigators.
