Local Climber Matt Brennan to Climb Mt. Everest!

Loveland climber Matt Brennan leaves March 25th on a 60 total day expedition to climb Mt. Everest.  

He will attempt the world's tallest mountain with 8 other climbers, two guides, and twenty sherpas. His personal gear will weigh over 100lbs

Some facts about Mt. Everest:

- summit is 29,029 feet

- the first humans to conquer the summit were Sir Edmund Hilary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay  in 1953

- over 4,000 have since reached the top

- over 290 known people have died attempting to climb Everest, including six last year

- the most popular routes are the Southern Col route on the Nepal side and the North Col route on the Tibet side
