It's already been done successfully in Baltimore. And it could be happening in Mississippi pretty soon - using drones to help speed up organ transplants. The Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency says it's looking closely at the possibility. MORA says using chartered aircraft to transport donated organs is expensive, and the cost of one flight could pay for the type of long distance drone they would need. It could begin using a drone initially to fly blood samples to a lab in Memphis for pre-transplant testing. It takes four hours for a courier to deliver the samples by car. A drone could do it in about 90 minutes.
