Dispute Over Crab Legs Ends With Tongs Being Used As Swords

Two people are facing misdemeanor charges after a dispute over crab legs at a dinner buffet in Huntsville, Alabama got out of hand.

Huntsville police officer, Gerald Johnson, happened to be at the Meteor Buffet restaurant when the fight broke out between the other customers.

"Everyone was saying, 'They cut me in line. She cut me in line. He cut me in line. I was here first,'" Johnson told WHNT-TV.

Diners were reportedly restless after having to wait several minutes for another round of crab legs. When they finally came out, some of the patrons began using the service tongs like they were fencing swords while plates were shattered and one woman allegedly beat a man, Johnson said.

"They'd been waiting there for the crab legs for a good 10, 20 minutes. When they finally came out, it's very heated. Especially if someone is taking more than their fair share," Johnson recounted.

One woman, identified as Chequita Jenkins, was charged with assaulting another patron, John Chapman, who suffered a cut on his head. Chapman is also facing disorderly conduct charges.

Both could end up paying hundreds of dollars in fines if convicted.
