Road kill for dinner is the idea behind a new state senate bill in California. Montebello Senator Bob Archuleta says SB 395 would amend state law and Fish and Game code in the event of a car striking and killing an animal. The Sacramento Bee says the responsible driver or anyone who finds the remains could apply for a free wildlife salvage permit within 24 hours. It is currently illegal to salvage road kill, and it is the sole responsibility of local jurisdictions to remove dead animals.
