The Navy is coming to the defense of Tom Cruise. The actor was on board the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt in San Diego last week filming the sequel to the 1980s classic Top Gun. Rumors had apparently spread that Cruise was acting arrogant with demands that the sailors on board avoid looking at him or touching him. A Navy spokesman said that the Navy itself had directed sailors not to approach actors or use cell phones on the set, and that some might have misinterpreted that guidance. The spokesman said Cruise and the cast acted professionally the entire time they were on board.
