Police Locate Woman's Tiny Home After It Was Stolen

Police have recovered a tiny home that was stolen in St. Louis over the weekend. The home was built on a trailer by Meghan Panu for just $20,000 over the past two years. Panu said that she had parked her house near a popular home supplies store in downtown St. Louis when theives hitched it to a pickup truck and drove away.

Panu received multiple tips after posting about the theft on Facebook. Tipsters said it was being pulled by a grey pickup truck and was heading west towards Kansas. Then it was reported that the 20-foot home was continuing its westward journey after people claimed to see it in the parking lot of an Iron Skillett restaurant along I-70.

None of those tips panned out, but on Wednesday Panu was informed by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office that her stolen home was found in House Springs, Missouri, which is about 30 miles from where it was taken. Police said that do not have any suspects, but are continuing the investigation.

A local tow truck company offered to return her home free of charge.

Now that her house has been found, Panu plans to finish the interior and then take it off the trailer and place on a lot with other members of the local community, where it will be much harder to steal.
