A solar observatory in Southern New Mexico has been shut down and evacuated for nearly a week, and no one is saying why. The Sunspot Observatory in the Sacramento Mountains was closed September 6th for an unspecified security issue. The FBI is reportedly involved but hasn't commented. The local sheriff said that he saw a blackhawk helicopter and that the FBI quickly became involved. They've also been secretive, he said, and haven't identified a specific threat. The post office in the area has also been shut down. There's no apparent timetable for when the observatory will be reopened.
