Bengals 17 Giants 7
It was far from pretty. But it was enough for the Bengals (2-4) to beat the Giants when Chase Brown busted out on a game sealing 30-yard TD run with 1:52 to go.
The defense came up big. Holding the Giants to seven points and 309 total yards. They were on the field for 37 plays over three consecutive 3rd/4th QT drives (16/11/10 plays)….17:04 total. Allowing just a TD.
Leading 10-7 with 3:01 left in the game, the defense held on a 4th & 2 from the Bengals 35. D.J. Turner nice coverage. Burrow then hit Andrei Yosivas on a beauty roll and throw of 29-yards on 3rd & 12. Chase Brown fumbled, but it rolled out of bounds with 2:00 left. He then broke the game sealing run.
The Bengals led 7-0 after the opening drive and 7-0 at the half. They led 10-7 into the 4th.
The Giants missed a game-tying 47-yard FG with 10:27 left in the game.
Offense:
306 yards on 50 snaps. 163 yards on five explosive plays…by five different players: Burrow 47-yard TD run, Brown 30-yard TD run, Chase 33-yard catch, Yoshi 29-yard catch, Higgins 24-yard catch. Gained 143 yards on other 45 snaps.
Big time OT struggle (Brown/Mims) vs NYG DL pressure. 4 sacks. Grounding. Stopped on 3rd & 1, 3rd & 3.
Didn’t reach the red zone until late 3rd QT. Got FG.
1st half: 29 plays/149 yards. Burrow 2 runs/57 yards. Other 27 plays = 92 yards
Five straight punts after the opening drive TD.
Joe Burrow: 19-28-208, 4 sacks. Sent to the blue tent after head smashed into turf on 4th QT hit. 47-yard TD run on 3rd & 18. Career long run had been 23. Longest TD run by QB franchise history. 3rd & 5 scramble for 10 yards. Missed Yoshi back of the end zone w/ a low wobbler. Settled for FG.
Tee Higgins: 7-76. Benefited from on 1 on 1 coverage. Big YAC 26-yards.
Ja’Marr Chase: 5-72. Dropped 3rd & 5 dart.

Yoshi doesn’t make many catches, but when he does they are big.
Defense:

Big sequence: With the Giants trailing 7-0 to start the 2nd half, Brian Daboll rolled the dice on 4th & 2 at NYG 38. Mike Hilton came up with a PBU. But Zack Moss fumbled it back at NYG 35. The Giants went on a 16 play/79 yard TD drive, converting 4th down twice, to tie the game.
Big settle: Cordell Volson’s hold wiped out a Chase Brown 1-yard TD run, late 3rd QT. Burrow was sacked on the next play. They settled for a 37-yard Evan McPherson FG. 10-7 Bengals.
