I get the biggest kick out of the national media coverage of the Bengals: cast doubt and criticize at all turns. I'll say it again: Listen local. Read local. Watch local.

I had someone unfollow me on X because they said I'm too negative. It reminds me of what my dear friend Norm Van Lier once said: "People are going to see what they want to see and hear what they want to hear, and there's not a damn thing you can do about it."

We are seeing Totally Tubular at Riverbend this weekend: Thomas Dolby, Modern English, Men Without Hats, The Tubes, Bow Wow Wow, all in one show! I need to find my parachute pants!

It's simply naive to think what Ja'Marr Chase is doing is 'planned' and "nothing". If the front office is going to drag their feet on an extension, he will drag his feet on practicing. You don't think Chase told Zac it's not personal, it's business? He'll play Week 1. The rest is just disingenuous mumbo jumbo.

I'm not sure why trading Frankie Montas would be considered a fire-sale or rebuilding. Do fans want the Reds to keep him for '25?

Among the biggest cons in society is making people pay to park, when they are coming to financially support the business/event to begin with.

I appreciate history, but is anyone really going to miss UC-Miami and The Victory Bell? And it has never made sense zero for UC to travel to Oxford, or to move a game to Paycor. RIP to The Victory Bell, after 2026.

Breakfast recommendation: Bean & Brew in Batavia. Great coffee and a killer Philly Steak, Cheese & Egg Bagel. Fantastic patio on the water. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff.

I saw Bo Derek on a Johnny Carson rerun the other night. I was 13 when '10' came out. I have no idea what the plot was. But I remember Bo in a swimsuit.

While Elly evolves as a generational player, it's perplexing how so many fans feel compelled to focus on what he doesn't do well.

We were back at Jungle Jim's (Eastgate) last weekend: We bought stuff we hadn't planned on buying. Got lost. Had a blast. That's pretty much how it goes there.

Need to laugh during this election season? Watch VEEP (2012-2019) with Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Laugh out loud funny.

It's still kind of jarring to watch Bengals practice and realize Reader, Mixon, Boyd, Williams and Awuzie are no longer part of this team.

Hamilton West Side Little League is a community baseball machine. 21 state titles. Dynasty.

I rarely recommend a show twice, but The Dropout on Hulu is so good. It's an eight part series based on the rise and fall of the disgraced biotech company Theranos and founder Elizabeth Holmes. Amanda Seyfried should win an award for the role, so charming, conniving, manipulative.

Among the many things I need to be better at in my job is accepting the notion that facts don't mean as much as they used to.

I just don't believe an injury impacted stepback season, with young players, is proof the Reds need to blow this up, fire the manager, sell the team, and start over. Sorry. See the 2011 season, between 2010 and 2012.

I've caught episodes of Bob Newhart shows over the last week, since his passing. Was anyone better at doing deadpan and that style of delivery? Comedic genius.

Excited to look through a new book I just received: Encyclopedic History of Cincinnati H.S. Football. It is 587 pages of teams, players, coaches, All-City, playoffs, etc. I'm thinking of multiple topics for Sports Talk.

Every time we go to Batavia, I flashback to (1) my grandma being the manager of the Green Valley store and (2) being so excited to go to Moonlight Chili everytime we visited as a kid.

I'm addicted to Kodiak protein balls. Kelly makes a batch of non bake oatmeal chocolate chip. I grab one with a glass of milk at night. That probably makes me sound like I'm 80 something years old.

Don't worry about things you don't care about
