Marlins 3 Reds 2
Jorge Soler belted a two-out, two-run, go-ahead homer on the first pitch from Lucas Sims in the 7th inning to push the Marlins past the Reds 3-2 Tuesday night at GABP.
The Rockies beat the Brewers 7-3 in 10 innings, so the Reds remain 1.5 games back in the NL Central. The Cubs beat the Mets 3-2 to pull within 1.5 games of 1st place.
The go-ahead: 1-1 in the 5th inning, the Reds took the lead when Stuart Fairchild tripled down the right field line, blew threw the stop side at 3rd base, and scored on a throwing error to the plate.
Ground to a halt: Following the Fairchild triple in the 5th, the next 14 Reds and 15 of 16 were retired. Closer David Robertson walked Joey Votto, pinch-hitting with two outs in the 9th. TJ Hopkins pinch ran. But Christian Encarnacion Strand struck out looking to end the game.
Luke Weaver: 4.1 IN, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 89 pitches/52 strikes. He was done after a one out single in the 5th (1-1), facing the Marlins order for a third time. Weaver 3rd time through the order this year: .394 batting average .444 on-base .758 slugging 1.202 OPS.

Rolling: Cruz struck out the side, the middle of the Marlins order, in the 8th. He struck out 5 in 1.2 innings on Sunday. Since June 12, in 25 appearances, he has recorded a 2.81 ERA with 42 K in 25.2 innings.
