Things that popped into my head this week
The more I watch Spencer Steer, the more I like Spencer Steer. Does a lot of things well. Loved his postgame comment: "I hate striking out more than anything."
Did you have a favorite meal your mom fixed you growing up? My mom made the best dippin' eggs. She'd make sausage biscuits for me to dip.
Charlie Adams, the WSBT Sports Director when I arrived in South Bend, taught me one of the most valuable lessons of my career. I wanted to be like the Sports Center guys, national highlights, scores and stories. He taught me the impact of local feature stories and high school sports. I've never forgotten that.
If Joe Burrow is the QB we think he is, and he is, does he need two $20M+ wide receivers? How many teams have had two $20M+ wide receivers?
I'm back to my daily 5 mile walk. I use it to clear my head, work on show ideas and listen to podcasts. I'd forgotten how good it makes me feel.
In order to purchase two $28 tickets online for the Reds tonight I must pay $11 convenience fee and $4.50 order fee? Nope. I'll walk up and take my chances.
I can't decide which is more frustrating, people that simply don't care about the facts..or.....people that get upset with me when I use them.
I'll continue to say it: There are few things sweeter than the fresh, clean look of an edged sidewalk.
We checked another local band off our list: Gee Your Band Smells Terrific. They play 70's and dress the part. Fun stuff.
If we aren't talking new stadium for the Bengals, then spend what it takes to put a dome over Paycor Stadium. As is, the stadium doesn't do a lot for me.
I hope I don't reach a point where I just blow my grass clippings into the street and leave 'em.
Kelly and I are pulling out the ole soft-sided cooler for the Reds game. Taking Jersey Mike's and drinks for dinner.
And to think a week ago I was fielding calls about Jason Vosler being the 1B for the Reds next season.
The Jeremy Renner interview on ABC that detailed his recovery from being rolled over by a 14,000 pound Snowcat is one of the most incredible things I've ever seen.
I'm cool with being labeled a David Bell apologist. I just wish fans would consider/understand why he made a decision it as much as they second guess the end result.
Add Dan Hoard to the growing list of converts to the EGO mower. His reaction to his first mow: "I honestly, can't wait to mow again."
I canceled my yearly Pro Football Focus subscription and went with a one month for $6.99 to get their draft stuff.
What the Reds did with the bullpen this offseason is the equivalent of the Bengals running out Bobby Hart....over and over.
Man, if you can't come up with better material than "where ya gonna go?" and "when will he be traded?" take some time and work at it. It's April of 2023.
Hunter Greene is 23-year old, didn't pitch in college, missed two years (Tommy John/No minor league Covid year) and has 139 ML innings under his belt. Can you maybe just take a breath?
Jonah Williams will be the Bengals Week 1 starting right tackle and he will bust his tail to get a big contract, from somebody.
Carrying three catchers serves no purpose for the Reds. The other two don't equal one. Neither is a bat. It's a wasted roster spot.
The new Hi-Wire Brewery and setup in Norwood has a good chance to be the best overall brewery package of the 55 we've been to. Can't wait to see it when everything is done.
I get the biggest kick out of people that get upset the Reds do giveaways. Breaking: All MLB teams do giveaways. The Yankees have five bobbleheads. The Cardinals have 60 giveaway or theme nights this season. If the Reds didn't do promotions, people would complain about that.
Debating who the Bengals should/could/might take at No. 28 is like debating who will finish 28th at the Indy 500 or Daytona 500.
We finished Season 1 of Shrinking on Apple TV. Well done. Harrison Ford and Jason Segel are so good.
Does it seem weird that at 6'5 225 pounds, Tyler Stephenson has just 6 home runs over his last 98 games and 303 AB entering Friday night?
I don't understand playing slot machines. You put money in just to pull the lever. There's no skill. What's the point?
How poorly did Will Benson play? Fans were actually clamoring for the return of Nick Senzel.
The athleticism on this Reds team is light years ahead of last year's team.
Really appreciate those that made the Sports Talk/Extra Innings podcast part of their lunch listen this week!
Our NFL Draft Show will be The Holy Grail. I'm with Rocky 6-9pm, Mo and Tony 9-midnight. Stop by!
Don't worry about things you don't care about
