Final Reds 5 Diamondbacks 3 (12 innings)
1. Where to begin?
2. What do I remember about a game that ended at 1:28am?
Tyler Mahle pitched the finest game of his ML career and one of the best in franchise history: 9 IN, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 12 K and threw 119 pitches.
Unfortunately he wasn't around for the decision as the game went scoreless into extra innings. From there, things got......wild.
10th inning
TJ Friedl's pinch-hit doubled in Matt Reynolds for a 1-0 lead.
But Alex Diaz allowed the Ghost Runner to score on a double to tied the game 1-1. He escaped a runner on 3rd, 1 out situation to extend the game.
11th inning
Kyle Farmer's third hit of the night plated two runs and gave the Reds a 3-1 lead.
But Luis Cessa threw back-to-back wild pitches that each scored runs and tied the game.
12th inning
Albert Almore triple in a run and Jonathan India singled in a run to give the Reds a 5-3 lead.
Joel Kuhnel kept the door closed to secure the win.
2 H night: Pham and Moose.
Figures: India returned to the lineup for the first time since April 29 and was promptly hit in the arm in his first plate appearance and hit twice on the night. He appeared to tweak his shoulder in the 12th inning but remained in the game.
The Reds are now 20-17 since starting 3-22.
The Reds are now .5 game back of the Cubs and 1.5 games back of the Pirates.
