Opening Day payroll for 2021 Reds

Doing the final math

The Reds 2020 payroll was in the $145M+ range. I was told during this past offseason that the 2021 payroll would be closer to the $120-$125M range.

Based on the Opening Day the 2021 payroll officially sits at $121.5M. That's a drop of approximately $23.5M.

Roster/salary:

Joey Votto ($25.1M), Mike Moustakas ($14M), Nick Castellanos ($14M), Eugenio Suarez ($10.7M), Sonny Gray ($10M), Wade Miley ($8M), Shogo Akiyama ($7M), Michael Lorenzen ($4.4 million), Luis Castillo ($4.2 million), Tucker Barnhart ($4.1M), Jesse Winker ($3.15 million), Tyler Mahle ($2.2 million), Sean Doolittle ($1.5M), Amir Garrett ($1.5 million), Cam Bedrosian ($1.5M), Tyler Naquin ($1.5M), Kyle Farmer ($640K).
