Barry Larkin made his major league debut in the Reds 8-6 win over the Giants at Riverfront Stadium.

It would be the first of 2,180 games in his Hall of Fame career.

Pinch-hitting for pitcher Rob Murphy, the Moeller product's RBI groundout scored Nick Essasky in the bottom of the 5th inning.

Reds TV analyst Chris Welsh made the start that night, getting a no decision.

The win went to John Franco and the savea to Ron Robinson
