Casey and I tried Zip's Cafe Wednesday afternoon: 1036 Delta Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45208 (Mt. Lookout Square).
I know. I know. How was it our first time? I have no good answer. I know this: We will be going back.
Often, things don't live up to the hype. The Zip's Cafe burger exceeded all the hype.
That is one damn fine burger. I've never described a burger as one that melts in your mouth. This one does. Gotta be the juiciest burger I've ever had.
I want a burger that is not a perfect circle or square. I want one that is a big hunk of ground beef. That's the Zip's burger.
It was so good that I slowed down eating it because I didn't want it to go away.
We added a cup of very good chili. We did not try the fries.
Zip's has been around since 1926. It's not very big. There is long main communal table down the middle of the place and maybe 5-6 booths on each side? It's dark inside, actually really dark. But there is certainly a cool mystic to it. I love the saloon style doors that push open to the back bar that has a classic 1920's look and feel.
Herb and Thelma's is next on this makeshift list. I have been there years ago, but Casey has not.
