Scruggs takes command, XU pulls away from Ohio

Xavier 82 Ohio 61

The Musketeers led 35-34 at the half, and still had their hands full 10 times into the second half, but then flipped the switch and busted out on a 26-7 run to pull away and put away the Bobcats.

XU mixed and matched defenses in the second half to confound the Bobcats at times.

The Musketeers have won four in row in moving to 6-3 on the season. Next up: The Crosstown Shootout.

With Quentin Goodin out dealing with sickness, it became the Paul Scruggs Show. The sophomore took command and led XU with 21 points, a career-high 8 assists, 5 rebounds and 4 steals.

Naji Marshall chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds.

Scary moment: Tyrique Jones went down with about 2:00 left in the game. While taking a charge, Jones hit his head on the knee of a Bobcats player as he was falling. Clearly woozy, Jones was helped to the locker room. He had 15 points and four rebounds.
