The Cowboys beat the Bengals 23-20, at Riverfront Stadium. But the game marked the birth of Blakemania in Cincinnati.
One week earlier, Bengals QB's David Klingler and Donald Hollas both suffered injuries, so third-string QB Jeff Blake made his first NFL career start.
In the first half, Blake tossed two long touchdown passes, both to wide receiver Darnay Scott.
Blake would toss for 387 yards the following week vs Seattle and the town was buzzing over the QB.
Songs....t-shirts.....cover of TV Guide......it was crazy.
