Scarlett Johansson is getting criticized for her upcoming role as a transgender man. The actress is starring in a new movie about Dante "Tex" Gill, a female who identified as a man while running a massage parlor in the 1970s and 80s. Johansson said in a statement to "Bustle" that anyone who does not agree with the casting decision should speak with representatives of Jared Leto, Felicity Huffman and Jeffrey Tambor. All three actors have played transgender roles. Johansson was previously criticized for playing an Asian woman in the 2017 movie, "Ghost in the Shell."

Best part: this is the same director that brought you the same white lady playing an asian character in the 2017 bomb "Ghost in the Shell". pic.twitter.com/NqSS87Zbse
