Scientists Train Spider To Jump On Command

Afraid of spiders?  Now you'll be twice as scared....Scientists in the U.K. say that the way a spider jumps could eventually be applied to micro-robotics.  Researchers at the University of Manchester trained a spider to jump different distances and heights.  They studied how the spider changes its body and uses different forms of energy depending on how far it wants to jump.  The spider has evolved to move in the most efficient way possible depending on the type of jump, sometimes using muscle and sometimes using internal hydraulic pressure.  The researchers hope that this intensive study of how spiders move can be applied to other fields. Thanks for ruining everyone's Friday guys...
