A former NFL kicker finds himself as the receiver of a lot of criticism for a Twitter pic. Jay Feely posted a picture this weekend standing with his arm around his daughter and with a gun in his other hand, next to his daughter's date. His daughter is smiling and rolling her eyes. Some claimed Feely was an irresponsible gun owner who should not being making jokes about guns, especially around children. Feely apologized yesterday, and Tweeted he did not mean to be insensitive to the important issue of gun safety.
The prom picture I posted was obviously intended to be a joke. My Daughter has dated her boyfriend for over a year and they knew I was joking.— Jay Feely (@jayfeely) April 22, 2018
I take gun safety seriously (the gun was not loaded and had no clip in) and I did not intend to be insensitive to that important issue
To everyone getting "offended" from the Jay Feely gun prom photo, this is a dumb dad joke that's been around for decades. It was even a meme years ago and a joke in 'Bad Boys 2.' Enough with your faux outrage and stop making everything into a stupid political debate... pic.twitter.com/YD8nGrJ1n7— Paul Sacca (@Paul_Sacca) April 22, 2018
