The final spot in the men's final of the 2026 Cincinnati Open was on the line as two Americans faced off. Brandon Nakashima was looking for his 2nd finals appearance in as many tournaments, while Tiafoe was looking to return to the final in Cincinnati for the 2nd time in three years.

The match opened as a back and forth battle between the two. Tiafoe got the key break late in the set, and held on to claim the opener.

The second set Tiafoe really took off, cruising past Nakashima and into the Cincinnati final.

Frances Tiafoe defeats Brandon Nakashima 7-5, 6-3.

Tiafoe will play Frenchman Arthur Fils for the Rookwood Trophy on Sunday. This will be the first time two black men will have faced off in a Masters 1000 final. The winner will be just the 3rd black man to win a Masters 1000 tournament after Ben Shelton (Canada x2) and Jo-Wilfried Songa (Canada x1, Paris x1).
