Pennsylvania Woman Pleads Guilty to Fatally Crushing Boyfriend

woman admits to suffocating boyfriend by sitting on him

A 300-lb Pennsylvania woman who sat on her boyfriend and suffocated him to death during a drunken argument back in March has agreed to a plea deal with prosecutors, it was announced Monday.

Prosecutors say Windi Thomas, 44, stabbed her 120-lb boyfriend, Keeno Butler, in the hand using a knife and battered him with a table leg before she fatally smothered him with her body at the home they shared in east Erie, Pennsylvania.

The 44-year-old Thomas pleaded guilty to a third-degree murder charge this week and faces nearly four decades in prison.

The coroner ruled Butler died by a homicide caused by "respiratory insufficiency secondary to blunt force trauma to the neck and thoracic compression, exacerbated by blunt force trauma to the head."

Following the incident, Thomas reportedly called police, telling a dispatcher, "I killed my boyfriend."

When investigators arrived to the scene, they discovered Butler dead, and a table leg with bolts protruding and covered in blood. Thomas told investigators that she had been drinking and craving crack cocaine.

The victim's sister, Sandra Butler, told GoErie.com that she believed the sentence Thomas got was too light.

"She deserved life," Butler told the paper.

A plea deal reduced Thomas's sentence, from 20 to 40 years in prison, to 18 to 36 years. She is scheduled to be sentenced on December 21.
