Miss Universe Beauty Pageant Gets First Transgender Titleholder

History is being made in the Miss Universe beauty pageant.  √Āngela Ponce is the pageant's first transgender titleholder after being crowned Miss Universe Spain.  The 26-year-old said her goal is to "be a spokesperson for a message of inclusion, respect and diversity not only for the LGBTQ+ community, but also for the entire world."  The Seville native will represent Spain at the Miss Universe pageant later this year.  Miss Universe ended its ban on transgender contestants back in 2012.
