Starbucks will be closing more than 8,000 company-owned stores today for racial-bias education. The training is meant to prevent discrimination to make sure everyone feels safe and welcome. This stems from the arrests of two black men at a Philadelphia store that sparked nationwide backlash. Nearly 175,000 Starbucks employees will learn about implicit bias, promoting conscious inclusion and preventing discrimination. The training will become a part of the Starbucks hiring process and will be available for other companies to use.
