Investigations are underway following an incident where a Southwest Airlines aircraft experienced a midflight plunge in April, narrowly avoiding a collision with the ocean off Hawaii's coast, as reported by various sources.
According to a memo to pilots last week, which Bloomberg News cited, Southwest Flight 2786, operated by a Boeing 737 Max 8, descended over 4,000 feet per minute, rapidly dropping from an altitude of 1,000 feet to just 400 feet above the ocean within mere seconds.
