Police: Man Shot at Officers, then Led Them on a Chase

( College Hill ) - Police say a man was arrested early Thursday morning after he shot at officers and then led them on a chase.

A statement from the department says just after midnight, police were called to a home on East Way to check on people inside. The caller said shots were fired into the home. As officers were standing on the front porch, they say they were shot at by a person in a car near East Way and Groesbeck. The officers took cover and returned fire.

Following that, the suspect tried to drive away, leading to a chase that involved I-75 and I-74. Police say that chase eventually ended in a driveway on Atwood, near the intersection of Argus and West North Bend. The driver of the car, 32-year-old Khayree Waller, was arrested. He's facing multiple charges from previous allegations, including attempted murder. More charges are pending once a grand jury is presented with the case.

A statement from Police Chief Eliot Isaac praises both the officers' courage and restraint.
