UC Health To Hold Sexual Health Lecture

(Cincinnati, OH) - Let's talk about sex. UC Health’s third annual Catherine Geering Sexual Health Community Lecture, “Sex in the Queen City,” will tackle the topics of sex health for empty nesters, cancer survivors and new mothers. The free community event will feature national and local experts in the field of sexual health.

The event is Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 6-8 p.m., Interact for Health Rookwood Commons (Northwestern Mutual Building) 3805 Edwards Road, Suite 500, Cincinnati, Ohio 45209.

“Sexual health concerns are common for women and men, and vary over our lives.  In large and small group sessions, we will focus on the science of sexuality and changing needs during three life experiences - parenthood, empty nesting, and cancer survivorship,” said Amy M. Thompson, MD, a UC Health OB/GYN specialist and Associate Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

The keynote speaker is Irwin Goldstein, MD, Director of Sexual Medicine for Alvarado Hospital, Clinical Professor of Surgery for the University of California at San Diego and the Director of San Diego Sexual Medicine. He will be joined by his wife of 44 years, Sue Goldstein, Certified Sexuality Educator and Clinical Research Manager for San Diego Sexual Medicine.

The Lecture series is named after Catherine Geering RN, MSN, WHNP. She was a nurse practitioner at the UC Health Women’s Center who passed away in February 2015 at the age of 57. Geering was a well-known labor and delivery nurse and a passionate advocate for women’s and sexual health who inspired her colleagues with her dedication and the joy she took in her work.
