Teen Girls Charged With Killing Pet Birds During Break-In

Police are accusing two teenage girls of committing a horrific crime when they broke into the home of a fellow student on Super Bowl Sunday. According to Fox News, Hallie Pate and Jordan Ruiz killed two parakeets belonging to their classmate and smeared the bird's blood on the furniture and doused the interior of the home with lighter fluid. 

Police allege the two girls stole an Xbox One gaming console and medical inhalers from the house as well. After they were done inside, the two girls went outside and set a parked car on fire before leaving. 

WITN reports police were able to locate the girls after they attempted to sell the stolen items. They face a dozen charges including " two counts of felony cruelty to animals, breaking and entering, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, larceny after breaking and entering, and obtain property by false pretense."

Both girls are being held on $50,000 secured bonds.
