President Condemned White Nationalists at White House

(Washington, DC)  --  President Trump issued a statement on Monday on the deadly weekend violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Speaking at the White House today, Trump said racism is evil.  He argued that hatred, bigotry or violence has no place in America.  He condemned white nationalists, Neo-Nazis and any other people who promote hatred.

The President was criticized for not speaking more forcefully in a statement on Saturday.  The President also says the Justice Department has opened a federal civil rights investigation into the violent act.

James Fields of Ohio was charged with one count of second-degree murder and three counts of malicious wounding.  Fields made his appearance by video conference in Charlottesville General District Court. He is charged with plowing through a crowd of people in a car killing one and injuring others during a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. The judge set no bond in the case.
