Yid's Greatest Hits

When there is nothing on TV the only thing you can do is take a bat to it.

Cingrani's Day

Tony Cingrani threw 3 innings of no hit shutout baseball.  He struck out 3 but also walked 3.  Cingrani also picked a couple Giants off first base.

Chien-Ming Wang took the loss for Cincinnati.  He had a good 4thinning and a good 6th inning but sandwiched between was a rough 5th.  Wang gave up 3 runs on 4 hits including a home run off the bat of Pablo Sandoval.

Back-Up Catcher

Bryan Price talked Thursday about the future of Neftali Soto.  The 25 year old is having a good spring.  He had a  6 game  hitting streak snapped yesterday but is still hitting .533 and had a monster home run Wednesday night against the Dodgers. Finding a place for  Soto to play may be his biggest hurdle to sticking in the big leagues.   Joey Votto occupies first base and he's not going anywhere for a long, long time.  Third base is a possibility if Todd Frazier stumbles but he's also learning to catch. "He's doing early and late work on his catching and trying to by a viable option as a third catcher or maybe even better than that" said Reds manager Bryan Price, "it sure is nice to know that you have that third catcher there in case something happens to the one guy who's left in the game. So that adds value and there's also a feeling here that he has a chance to be better than a third catcher. We're getting good reports from Mike Stefanski (Reds catching coordinator) on his development."
