Taken it easy

The Reds will experience their first and only off day today.  The next time they have a day off is Sunday 3/30 and you can bet even then many of the players will come to Great American Ball Park to workout before opening day.


Nice Debut

Jonathon Broxton made his first appearance of the Spring and pitched a 1-2-3 5th inning, including a strikeout.

Latos is Next

Broxton pitched yesterday, Mat Latos will see his first action on Wednesday.  However instead of throwing in the Reds night game against the Royals, Latos will pitch in a minor league game at the Reds complex.  He of course has been sidelined after minor knee surgery at the beginning of Spring Training.


Reds 1-1 in Replay Reviews

In the 5th inning yesterday, Brandon Phillips attempted to steal third base but was called out by umpire Alan Porter.  Bryan Price immediately challenged the call and the call was overturned.

The Reds, as is normally the case, celebrated St. Patrick's day by wearing their green uniforms.

Umpire Brad Myers is attended to after he is hit by a Brandon Phillips line drive.  He was hit below the belt.
