Needing More Work

The Reds will take to one of the backfields this morning here in Goodyear to get in a little extra work.  They will play a 5 inning game where major Leaguers will pitch, major leaguers will hit but the minor leaguers will play in the field.  Many of the regulars will also play in this afternoons game against the Giant. The Reds certainly need to figure out a way to score some more runs.

Homer's Day

Homer Bailey who could be the opening day starter  threw 4 pretty good innings yesterday.  Bailey went 4 innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and he struck out 5. One of those strikeouts came on a nasty breaking ball to  Adrian Beltre.

Billy Good and Bad

Centerfielder Billy Hamilton laid down a perfect drag bunt in the 4th inning yesterday and ended up with a base hit.  With Jay Bruce at the plate, Hamilton broke for second base.  Bruce doubled to center and Hamilton score standing up.  But Hamilton also struck out twice yesterday, his first two K's of the spring.

Reds leadoff man Billy Hamilton had a bunt single and a couple of strikeouts yesterday

Real Game Situations

In some ways, Bryan Price managed yesterday's game against the Rangers like it was the regular season.  In the 7th he sent Chris Heisey to the plate as a pinch hitter.  That is a role Heisey is going to play throughout the season..By the way he singled past the third baseman.
