RF Jay Bruce today had arthroscopic surgery to repair the torn meniscus in his left knee. He is expected to miss approximately a month.
RF Roger Bernadina has accepted an outright assignment to Class AAA Louisville. He was designated for assignment on Saturday.
Here is the question someone needs to answer.
If Jay Bruce was scratched from Sunday's starting lineup with a sore knee,
A. Pinch-hit in the 7th inning with a partially torn meniscus?
B. Pinch-hit in the 7th inning and partially tear the meniscus?
Either way, somebody has some explaining to do.

The loss of Bruce is a blow to a Cincinnati offense that's tied for 10th in the National League with 116 runs scored. Bruce, a two-time All-Star, averaged 32 homers and 101 RBIs per season from 2011-2013.
Bruce had been scratched prior to Sunday's game with a sore knee. He would later pinch-hit in the 7th inning.
