*Reds: If I had a $1 for everyone quoting me that Tony Perez was 20-24 and fired in 1993, I'd be rich. Are fans actually blaming the manager for this season?
*Video of Price's talk HERE. What do you think of it?
*Do you have a problem with what Marty said about the Reds?
What do you want from your broadcast team during a game?
Do you want a homer? Do you want a critic?

Lawrence picks Manhattan

The Bengals today signed two of their selections from the 2014 NFL draft, QB A.J. McCarron (fifth round, Alabama) and CB Lavelle Westbrooks (seventh round, Georgia Southern).
McCarron stands as one of the top winning QBs in college history, having led Alabama national championship teams in 2011 and 2012, and he holds multiple Crimson Tide season and career passing records.
Westbrooks started 41 games over four years at Georgia Southern and was named a second-team All-Southern Conference selection in 2013.
The Bengals now have signed four of their eight draft selections. Signed previously were LB Marquis Flowers (sixth round, Arizona) and WR James Wright (seventh round, LSU).

Batter up

I got to watch Peyton's softball game last night, at least three innings of it before the rains came.

The Reds are 21-24, 3rd place in NL Central, tied for 6th in Wild Card race.
Tony Perez was fired as a rookie Reds manager after a 20-24 start in 1993.
It's been interesting to see how many fans have referenced the similarities in records of Perez and Price. Is the start to this season more on Bryan Price, Walt Jocektty, the players, or injuries/bad luck?

Final: Reds 2 Nationals 1 Boxscore

WASHINGTON, DC - MAY 21: Starting pitcher Alfredo Simon #31 of the Cincinnati Reds works the first inning against the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park on May 21, 2014 in Washington, DC. (Photo by Patrick Smith/Getty Images)

*Reds take series 2-1, win a 1-run game (7-13), and split road trip (3-3).
*Reds now 21-24
*Bryan Price gathered the team prior to the start of the 4th inning and delivered a message.
*How about Alfredo Simon? He came back out after a 61-minute rain relay.
*Simon: 7 innings, 5 H, 1 R, 6 K, 1 BB...season: 6-2 2.31. Ties career high wins.
*Any doubt Simon is this team's MVP? Forget where would they be without him. Who would have been given the 9 starts he's made?
*Simon pitched 87 last season. He has already pitched 58.1 this year.
*Think Simon will get a nice raise? He's making $1.5M this year. He can go to arbitration this offseason and could be a free agent after 2015.
Imagine collective payday of Simon, Leake, Latos and Cueto after 2015, when all could become FA.
*Zack Cozart 3 hits and up to a season high .227.
*Cozart riding 5 game hit streak (8 for 22, .364) and hitting .319/.356 over last 18 games.
*Brandon Phillips 2 hits, RBI 1B
*Brayan Pena RBI 1B
*The Reds will attempt to win back-to-back games Friday night, for the 1st time in 14 games: L, L, W, L, W, L, W, L, W, L, L, W, L, W.

From listener Jeff

Down on the Farm
Remember Matt Maloney? The Reds have signed the former Reds LHP and assigned him to Louisville.

The Bengals signed two of their selections from the 2014 NFL Draft, LB Marquis Flowers (sixth round, Arizona) and WR James Wright (seventh round, LSU).
Flowers played in 50 career games for Arizona, logging 267 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 27.5 tackles-for-loss and five interceptions.
Wright played in 50 games for LSU. He had 25 catches for 304 yards in his career and was also a special teams standout.
