Final: Brewers 1 Reds 0 Boxscore
Matt Garza was tossed a complete game, 2-hit shutout, just the 7th opposing pitcher to do so in the history of GABP, as the Brewers beat the Reds 1-0.
*Only 15th 1-0 game in 12-year history of GABP.
*5th time Reds have lost a game allowing 1 run this year.
*10th time Reds shutout this season. Happened 11 times all of last season.
*Only been 19 complete-game shutouts during regular season at GABP.
*The 95th shutout and 76th homeless games in the 12-year, 930-game history of GABP.
*Garza was perfect into the 5th before Brandon Phillips singled.
*Garza need just 36 pitches to get through the first four innings.
*About that Votto narrative: 0-4, 3 K...saw 14 pitches.
*Votto now 6 for last 37 (.162), 6 BB last 11games. OBP .279. Yea, keep running out there.
*There are some very smart people in this organization that are collectively making a really poor decision with Votto.
*Runs in last 4 games: 0, 2, 0, 4, 0.....but Reds will keep spinning the Votto narrative. *Votto has 1 BB last 6 games. Why? Who in there right mind would fear pitching to him? Hard and inside. Can't turn on it.
*Jay Bruce 0 for last 23 over last 6 games, following 9 game hit streak: 16 for 35, .457.
*Offense: hit by Cozart and Phillips.
*Reds executed 2 beautiful replays to gun down runners at the plate: Bruce-Cozart-Mesoraco and Bruce-Philips-Mesoraco. Big props to Cozart as the 2nd replay man as Bruce overthrew Votto.
*2nd time this year Reds have had 2 outfield assist in same game to throw out runners: Saturday, June 7 vs Phillies...both by Hamilton.
*Tough luck Homer: Bailey allowed a 2-out, 1st inning rally and that led to only run of game. Bailey: 8 IN, 7 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 8 K, ERA drops to 4.15.
*Jumbo Diaz got call for one run game: 1-2-3, 2 inning by Price.

Our view Saturday
Casey and I went to the game on Saturday. We are trying to sit in every section of GABP. We finally checked the bleachers off out list. Not a bad seat, especially for $11 a ticket that I paid on We eventually started baking in the sun and escaped to The Machine Room.
