It was raining homers

Reds 7 Pirates 7 in the 7th
That was a weird a night as I've ever spent at the ballpark.
There were 10 HR's, three sets of back-to-back HR's, seven lead changes in six innings, dogs in the stands, a replay challenge after a fly ball hit RF Travis Snider in the jaw, a rain delay of 1 hour 38 minutes, the suspension of the game...and then snow. It was comical. Don't believe me? HERE is the box score.
*The game will resume at 5:30 today, with the regularly scheduled game set for 7:10.
*Bark in the Parks dogs are out of luck, they are not invited back tonight.
* Elias Sports Bureau says: the 10 HR's were the most in a ML game since June 18, 2006 when the Tigers-Cubs combined for 11 at Wrigley Field.
*The Pirates three sets of back-to-back homers happened for only the third time in ML history: Reds-Braves in 1956, and Red Sox-Yankees in 1977.
*Home Run Derby:
Neil Walker and Gaby Sanchez each hit 2 HR's and twice went back-to-back.
Starling Marte and Travis Snider hit back-to-back HR's.
The Pirates have 14 HR's in its last three games at GABP.
Todd Frazier, Ryan Ludwick, Joey Votto and Devin Mesoraco.
*Congrats to Neftali Soto, he got his first ML hit, after starting his career 0 for 14.
*Mez-morizing: Devin Mesoraco has 3 HR in 17 AB…last season he had 9 HR in 323 AB.
*Why can't Billy Hamilton bunt? He's 1 for what....6 or 7 bunt attempts?
*I've always loved this offense. They started season without a run in 17 innings, over the weekend scored 1 run in an 18 inning stretch and have now scored 19 runs in the last 14 innings.
*Votto 3 HR in last 4 games…last time hit a HR in three games of a four game stretch: August 21-24, 2011
*My dinner was a cup of ice cream from the guys in the Fox Sports Ohio TV booth.
Oh man, I ate like Lindsay Patterson.

Worried about Homer?
CINCINNATI, OH - APRIL 14: Homer Bailey #34 of the Cincinnati Reds pitches in the third inning of the game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Great American Ball Park on April 14, 2014 in Cincinnati, Ohio. (Photo by Joe Robbins/Getty Images)
Homer Bailey: 5 IN, 8 H, 4 HR, 0 BB, 9 K.
It was the 3rd consecutive start he's been given a lead and gave it back.
Bailey's 3 starts:
0-1 8.16 ERA, 14.1 IN, 13 ER, 24 H, 6 HR, 5 BB, 17 K, .369 BAA, 2.02 ERA.
*First time he's allowed 4 HR in a game in 146 career starts.
*Bailey: 5, 5, 4.1 innings last 3 starts.
*1st time Bailey's had 3 straight starts of five innings or less since the 4-5-6th starts of his career in 2007 (1.2, 3.2, 5)
*Three starts into his six year contract, Twitter has decided Bailey's contract is already a disaster.
*He has hitting 95mph last night, he was not hitting his spots. 4 HR, 0 BB, 9 K.
*Nobody was getting anybody out last night. He will be fine.
Homer's pitch selection
I was playing around with Homer Bailey's pitch selection for this year, compared to last year. One thing that jumped out:
Last year: Threw splitter 13% of the time.
This year: Throwing splitter 4% of the time.
The difference is made up in his 4-seam fastball: Up from 47% time last year to 58% of the time this year.
