Poll: Feeling better about the Reds?

Feeling better about this team? The Reds have won 5 of their last 6 and are 5-2 since they got full healthy. Tonight they try to get to the .500 mark for the first time since they were 11-11 on April 24. They have not been above .500 this season. HERE are notes, stats and observations from Tuesday's 6-5 win.

Deep goes Frazier!

Grady Sizemore was designated for assignment by Red Sox. The 31-year old OF hit .216-2-15 in 52 games.

Freaks of Nature: Sports on Earth pays tribute to Bronson Arroyo and pitchers that have managed to avoid the DL over the years.

Anyone? Nope
The Twins designated OF Jason Kubel for assignment. The 32-year old hit .224-1-13 in 52 games. Since 2013 he's hit .219-300-.308-.609, 6 HR, 45 RBI in 466 plate appearances.

Add this to the list of weird sports injuries. He got mad, punched a chair and broke his hand.

Down on the Farm
It was a big night for two Reds prospects at the California League All-Star game.
OF Kyle Waldrop had 2 hits, including a HR, and drove in all 3 runs.
SP Ben Lively pitched 2 hitless innings to get the win. Game story HERE.
Both players are being promoted to Double-A Pensacola, along with Jesse Winker.

How about the start by catcher Kyle Schwarber (Middletown/IU), first round pick of the Cubs this year?: Schwarber finished Tuesday's game 3-for-4 with a 2B, a BB, 2 R and 2 RBI. Five games into his professional career, Schwarber is 12-for-20 with 4 HR, 7 runs and 10 RBI.

Reds 1st round pick Nick Howard pitched four scoreless innings, in his longest out of the season, as Virginia went 15 innings to beat TCU in the College World Series last night. Howard threw 60 pitches, allowing 1 H, 1 BB, 6 K. He reached 97-98 mph while I was watching. Entering the game, Howard had thrown a total of 30.2 innings in 28 appearances on the season. The 15 inning game tied the College World Series record set in 1970. The Cavaliers will play Friday at 7pm.

I wish the Bengals would do a Summer Tour like the Colts. HERE is more on the Colts Summer Tour.

You might get punched in the face. You might hug people you've never met. You might end up getting to second base with someone with whom you have nothing in common other than the fact that you're both Americans and THAT'S ENOUGH DAGNABIT. But join. Because this is different than everything else we're doing. This is something we all have. Let's do this together.
