Hot and Cold and evening out
Jay Bruce has followed a season high 9 game winning streak with four straight hitless games.

Cozart's power supply?
While fans get caught up in the batting average of the 8th hitting SS on the Reds, take a look at the drop off in power.
2014: .230 BA, .277 OBP, .305 SLG, .582 OPS.
He's on pace for 25 doubles, 2 triples and 4 homers.
Cozart's slugging%/extra-base hits:
2012: .399, 52
2013: .381, 45
2014: .305, 31 (projected)
In 2012, Cozart became the 4th SS in franchise history to have at least 30 doubles and 15 homers (Barry Larkin, Felipe Lopez, Eddie Miller). He had 21 doubles at the '12 All-Star break, most over by a Reds rookie SS. He followed the '12 season with 30 doubles and 12 homers last year.
This year he's making more contact, hitting more line drives, but producing fewer extra-base hits than at any point in his career.
Contact rate by year, 2012-14: 82.3, 81.5, 84.9.
Line drive % rate by year, 2012-14: 18, 22, 25.
Extra-base hit % rate, 2012-14: 8.7, 7.3, 5.3.
% HR per fly balls, 2012-14: 7.0, 6.3, 1.9.
The best is yet to come
Sports On Earth
The Reds shouldn't be where they are right now. They've dealt with injuries to their only viable hitters (Jay Bruce and Joey Votto), watched Mat Latos hit the disabled list and Homer Bailey struggle, and even saw elite closer Aroldis Chapman miss some time. They managed to survive all of that, though, and while they sit 7.5 games out in the NL Central, they're just three games behind the crowded NL wild card picture. And, as mentioned, they're healthy now.

Since May 2, the #Pirates are 34-22, best in baseball. Rotation still hasn't been great (4.05 ERA), so could use an upgrade there.— David Schoenfield (@dschoenfield) July 3, 2014
Happy Birthday: Greg Vaughn is 49 today
He was a member of the Reds for only the 1999 season, but what a season it was.

He finished 4th in NL MVP voting. Career stats.

Ranking the NFL QB's by tiers
T-19: Andy Dalton
The people who like Dalton like him more as a person than as a talent. They love his approach to the game, his professionalism and his demeanor. They think the Bengals can win with him if they're strong enough in other areas. But most don't see him climbing out of the third tier, where 20 of 26 evaluators placed Dalton without much hesitation.
Offensive coaches want to know, does this QB expand or limit our options offensively? The most respected ones expand the options. #QBTiers— Mike Sando, ESPN.com (@SandoESPN) July 2, 2014
