Brandon Phillips tomorrow will have surgery to repair the torn ligament in his left thumb. He is expected to miss approximately 6 weeks.
Homer Bailey left this afternoon’s game with a slightly strained right knee. He had a precautionary MRI but is not expected to miss his next start, scheduled for after the All-Star break.

*Homer Bailey injured himself on the delivery of a pitch in the 6th. He stopped his follow through and bent over on the mound. It was announced as pain in his patellar tendon in right knee. The Reds indicate he's not expected to miss his next start.

*All heck broke loose after the Top of the 9th. Anthony Rizzo, who had taken exception to being hit by Homer Bailey in the 1st inning, took exception to Aroldis Chapman buzzing John Baker and Nate Schierholtz in the 9th. With the Cubs dugout barking at him, Chapman waved off their dugout as the 9th was completed. As Rizzo took his position at 1B, he detoured to the Reds dugout and threw down his mitt. Reds players came over the rail after him. Both benches emptied. No punches, no ejections. Video HERE.
