3 is the painful number
The Reds have scored 3 runs in less in six consecutive games, and in a total of 28 games this season. It got me wondering about the franchise record for consecutive games scoring 3 runs or less.
From Steven Sharp
In Reds franchise history (1882-Present), the Reds have produced three different streaks of 14 consecutive regular-season games in which they scored three runs or less.
-August 26, 1948 to September 9, 1948
-May 9, 1943 (Game 1 of DH) to May 26, 1943
-September 5, 1914 to September 19, 1914 (Game 1 of DH)
Reds (1882-Present) have had eleven different streaks of 10+ consecutive regular-season games in which they scored three runs or less. The most recent of those streaks was in August 1982 (10-game streak).
During the 2014 season, there have been three instances of any MLB team producing a streak of 7 or more consecutive regular-season games in which those respective teams scored three runs or less.
Braves had a streak of 8 straight games earlier this month.
Padres and Cardinals both had streaks (one each) of 7 straight games in April.
On this date: 1987
Eric Davis hits his third grand slam of the month in a 6-2 win over the Pirates.
His major league-leading 19 home runs also breaks the NL record for most homers batted between April and May.
