The Bengals today signed free agent DE Sam Montgomery, a second-year NFL player.
Montgomery (6-3, 262; LSU) was a third-round Houston draft selection in 2013. Listed as a LB by the Texans, he was  a gameday inactive on the roster for Games 1-7 and was waived Oct. 22. He was signed briefly to the Oakland practice squad in December.
Montgomery played thee seasons (2010-12) at LSU, helping the Tigers to an overall 34-6 record and a berth in the 2011 BCS National Championship game (lost to Alabama). He had 19.0 sacks, tied for sixth in program history, in just 31 career games. He also had 32.5 tackles-for-loss.
