The Pixies are one of the most influential groups of the past 30 years. Their alt-rock style that started in the mid-80's gave inspiration to the likes of Nirvana, Radiohead, and The Strokes, among many others. They had a good 5-year run where they released four albums that achieved modest success in the US, but a great deal more in Europe. Their newest album, "Indie Cindy", is their first studio recording since 1991! Today we're featuring the song, "Bagboy".
Violinist Lindsey Stirling gained more recent fame as a contestant on "America's Got Talent". She began taking violin lessons at the tender age of 5! She has combined her love of many different musical styles to make her second studio album, "Shatter Me". Today we're featuring the first single, "Beyond the Veil".
A LITTLE ABOUT JIM
Each morning from 5am-9am , Jim talks with them all, news correspondents from the White House to London to Baghdad; newsmakers from former Presidents to Playboy beauties; sports figures from Pete Rose to Marvin Lewis and actors, authors and activists. He's the voice of volunteerism, the emcee of choice for just about anything from Marty Brennaman night at the ballpark to a Bengals rally to a visit from the President. Jim is an avid golfer, marathon runner, the guy who will close your kids' school in the winter. And he does this all on 5 hours of sleep a day. Jim is the winner of the 2002 Marconi Award for Large Market Radio Personality of the Year. His show is produced by Greg Shurts.
