National Aviation Day Celebration at CVG

Celebrate the miracle of flight at your hometown airport with a day full of your hometown favorites. Media are invited to attend both events.

 

·         Gold Star Chili and Graeter’s Ice Cream are partnering with CVG to celebrate National Aviation Day and welcome more than 2,000 lucky passengers arriving in Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky with signature cheese coneys and ice cream. Aviation Day festivities also include a band, aviation-themed giveaways and other surprises at the Welcome Point of the CVG Terminal.

 

·         Mr. Softee Ice Cream truck will provide aviation spectators at the Airplane Viewing Area (1459 Donaldson Hwy, Erlanger, KY 41018) complementary treats beginning at 2:00 PM. *Limited supply, so first-come, first-served. Aviation-themed giveaways will also be handed out.

 

·         CVG will launch a scavenger hunt on social media for passengers to find Wilbur Wright (the eldest brother who developed the first successful airplane) throughout the Terminal and two Concourses. Hints will be shared on Twitter. Prizes will be awarded to the first passengers who spot Wilbur, snap a photo with him, and share on CVG’s Twitter account.

Each year, National Aviation Day is celebrated on August 19 to commemorate the history of flight. The holiday falls on the birthday of Orville Wright, one of the famous brothers historically credited with inventing, building and flying the first airplane.
