Kentucky State Police Identify Man Shot and Killed by Officer in Florence

( Florence, KY ) - Kentucky State Police have now identified the man who was shot and killed by a police officer in Boone County late last month.

On June 30th, U.S. Marshals Service attempted to execute multiple search warrants at the home of 33-year-old Jeremy Nelson. He was located at a residence on Garden Dr. in Florence through surveillance.

It was when the Marshals made contact with Nelson, that they say he fired a weapon. A brief standoff ensued at which point Nelson was fired upon by law enforcement. Nelson was fatally wounded and died at the scene.

No police officers were injured in the exchange of gunfire. The investigation is still ongoing.
