Teens Charged in Weekend Rock-Throwing

( Boone County ) - The sheriff says a pair of underage teens are now charged after a pair of weekend incidents where rocks were thrown onto moving cars.

Twice on Saturday evening, cars driving in the Burlington area were hit by rocks. In the incident around 10:30pm, on KY-237 near Country Club Lane, William Wehner's windshield was hit by the rock shown in the above picture. He suffered facial injuries and was sent to the hospital, though the sheriff says he was able to pull his car off the road.

In an update on Monday afternoon, Sheriff Michael Helmig says a 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy have now been charged and arrested. The 14-year-old allegedly threw the rock that hit Wehner, he's now charged with assault and criminal mischief. The 15-year-old is charged with complicity and criminal mischief for his alleged involvement in the other rock-throwing incident from Saturday. Both boys are students at the Boone County Alternative Center for Education, though they're now in the Campbell Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
