( Cincinnati ) - A new forecast from the National Weather Service is revising the projection for levels the Ohio River will hit next week.
Several inches of rain are expected to fall over the weekend, and now the Ohio River is expected to reach 59 feet on Monday morning.
The statement from NWS reads:
The Flood Warning continues for The Ohio River at Cincinnati * until further notice. * At 5 AM the stage was 56.3 feet. * Flood stage is 52 feet. * Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast. * The river will rise to around 56.5 feet today then it will rise to near 59.4 feet by Tuesday morning. The river will remain above flood stage for the next 5 days. * At stages near 59.0 feet, Much of Route 52 is flooded from Cincinnati to New Richmond. Significant flooding occurs in California, Ohio, with several roads, Coney Island, and Riverbend Music Theater mostly underwater. Backwater flooding affects many roads in Anderson Township. Several low roads in the East End are also flooded. Portions of Route 8 in northern Kentucky become flooded, as well as portions of Lawrenceburg and Aurora, Indiana. Basement flooding of low lying homes and businesses is widespread.
