Protests Outside of UC

( CINCINNATI, OH ) -- As FC Cincinnati prepared to welcome Chicago to Nippert Stadium, protesters from groups like Black Lives Matter Cincinnati and Countdown to Conviction marched on the campus of UC. With chants of "No justice, no peace," "I am Sam; Sam is me," and "Hey UC, we're holding you accountable," the protesters marched to the front of Nippert Stadium and formed a line.

While protesters did let game attendees through, they did ask all who walked by to sign petitions to request a retrial for former UC officer Ray Tensing. Chants of "I don't care if you see the game. Say his name. Sign the petition." started up as many walked through gaps in the line, some stopping to give their signatures.

At one point, UC's Vice President of Safety and Reform, Dr. Robin Engel came outside and stood beside campus police off to the side of protesters. When one protester with a megaphone pointed her out and claimed she was responsible for the death of Sam Dubose, many other protesters chanted "You killed Sam Dubose!"

Black Lives Matter Cincinnati organizer Brian Taylor says that something in the legal system in America is wrong when what he claims to be proof of racism in officers is not allowed to be presented as evidence in court. He also says that until Prosecutor Joe Deters agrees to retry Ray Tensing again, protesters will pressure him, picketing outside of his office and holding rallies.
