CINCINNATI – The American Athletic Conference and the University of Cincinnati jointly released the Bearcats 2014 football schedule.
The Bearcats, 9-4 a year ago under first-year Head Coach Tommy Tuberville, will open the 2014 campaign with a nationally televised game on Friday, Sept. 13 against the Toledo Rockets in Paul Brown Stadium.
UC will play its six home games downtown this year due to the $86-million Nippert Stadium Renovation & Expansion Project that is scheduled for completion in August 2015.
“It’s an exciting time with spring football going and our schedule being released,” Tuberville said. “We are certainly looking forward to some great matchups, strong national television exposure and the chance to build on what we started here in 2013.”
UC will face Miami (Ohio) on Sept. 20 at PBS before hitting the road to Columbus to take on Ohio State on Saturday, Sept. 27.
The Bearcats open American play on Saturday, Oct. 4 against Memphis at PBS before closing out the non-league season with a road matchup at Sun Life Stadium against the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday, Oct. 11.
UC travels to Dallas, Texas to face SMU on October 18 ahead of a Friday-night ESPN/ESPN2 matchup with USF inside PBS on Oct. 24.
The Bearcats play their second-straight Friday-night contest at Tulane with a Halloween night matchup scheduled against the Green Wave.
After a bye on Nov. 8, UC faces East Carolina on Nov. 15 at PBS before a pair of road contests at UConn (Nov. 22) and Temple (Nov. 29) before closing out the regular season on Dec. 6 against Houston.
Game time and additional television opportunities will be released as they become available. All times and dates are subject to change.
“Looking forward, we also thought it was critical to give our fans a marquee opponent inside the newly renovated Nippert Stadium in 2015,” Tuberville said. “I am excited that the department is working hard on things that will make our season downtown in Paul Brown special. I believe our fans will be excited and we truly need their support. We will continue to seek out the best possible schedule that gives us the optimal chance to be successful on a national stage.”
